113 - Irrigate: Root Canal Therapy


This course will compare and evaluate the presently used irrigates in root canal therapy. Their weakness and side effects will be discussed. What is good root canal therapy? This course will discuss this and conclude with a workable irrigation regiment.

The canals are all located before treatment is started. One of the leading causes of root canal failure is the missed canal. These can be found by taking an X-ray from a different direction when a file is placed in the known canal. If you see another canal, then you will know there is another root and canal. Example: the mandibular first molar will often have four roots and four canals. Sometimes the same root will have two canals.

There are two types of endodontic cases, vital and non-vital.

Vital:

A vital case will have live tissue and will be the result of a slight exposure during caries removal, or a fracture of the tooth, or a missed diagnosed irreversible pulpitis caused from a clenching problem. The live tissue starts off....
