154 - Sticky Bone the Miracle


Autologous Fibrin Glue (AFG) comes from centrifuge blood. When the AFG is mixed with bone particles it becomes sticky bone that can be added to bone denuded areas such as maxillary sinus and exposed roots of chronic periodontitis teeth. It allows the bone particles to behave like a membrane sticky together around the exposed roots of the teeth. This results in the bone growing back rapidly (2-3 months) in the sinus or around the roots of the teeth.


History:

Platelet Rich Plasma was developed first some years ago. Blood was taken from the patient, anticoagulants were added, and then the blood was centrifuge for ten minutes taking the red blood cells to the bottom of the tubes. The liquid at the top of the tubes was placed in syringes and injected back into the patient in areas where blood could not reach to promote healing of the tissues such as worn joints.
